Free machining refers to the ability to cut and finish the materials without heavy wear on the machining tools. Tensile Strength is 35000 psi (pounds per square inch). Passivation helps prevent corrosion in certain stainless steels by removing surface impurities that can be caused by machining or forming processes. These impurities block the normally occurring formation of a protective oxide coating on the steel.
